Amble In Motel

Feedback

A beautiful setting and comfortable place to stay when visiting Taranaki. Definitely recommend!

The motel was probably built in the 1970s, and the current owners, Allie and Tom, have refurbished the units with fresh decor, colours and furniture to give a contemporary feel. Our bed was very comfortable, and everything was scrupulously clean and well maintained. When we arrived just after Christmas, our unit even had a small Christmas tree and table decorations, which was a lovely touch 🙂 The motel is built on part of the old Ngaere Gardens, and includes extensive gardens and grounds, including a small woodland and a couple of lakes. At night, fairy lights in the Enchanted Woods glow around the barbecue area, which is equipped with a chest of rugs for chilly evenings. All the units have a view of Mt Taranaki, there is an exercise area for dogs, and plenty of room for small people to run around and let off steam. The grounds and setting make it one of the most attractive motels we’ve stayed in, and it is an ideal place to stop and relax for a few days. We had a mishap while we were there, when my husband cut his foot badly and needed stitches at Hawera Hospital. Allie and Tom couldn’t have been more helpful, and we can vouch for the first aid box! Thank you both for your care and for your hospitality.
There are still some 70s touches, such as the rather basic bathroom (although it had everything we needed, and was spotlessly clean) and the bar catches on the windows in the bedroom and bathroom. However, Allie and Tom have not been there long and appear to have worked miracles since their arrival. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and these are small quibbles.

Outstanding!

This motel was outstanding in every way. The unit was not only spotlessly clean, but was perfectly maintained with lovely design and materials. The property also has five acres that are beautiful for a morning or evening (with lights) walk. There are ponds, BBQ area, playground for children, flowers, metal sculptures. etc. We have spent 3 weeks traveling and spending nights in B & B’s and motels. I don’t usually do reviews, but I am making an exception for Amble Inn. This place–and the kind, friendly owner–is not to be missed!

Wow, what a place!

Wow, what a place! They have gone and taken The “extra” step in all areas.. quoting my 5year old : “it’s cleaner than our house”. 🙂 The rooms are clean, feels new and tasteful. The playground and “enchanted forest” a beautiful touch.
Easily the best place we’ve stayed in New Zealand.
Small thing, like supplying a package of press-coffee was a nice change for the normal freeze-dried. Stay here!

Exceptional

I thought this motel was exception in every way, from being greeted by the friendly and helpful owner (and the elderly 4 legged guardian of the deck) to the care and detail that has gone into my 1 bedroom unit, to the motel cat trying to stow away in my car while I was loading! The unit was immaculate, much thought has gone into setting it up, and the grounds lovely to wander through. The road is busy during the day, but quietened down at night, and the bedroom away from that side anyway. This is your base for exploring Taranaki

Another happy guest

Just when we thought receiving one letter of appreciation was a treat, we receive another.

Dear Tom and Allie,

… I would like to extend our thanks to the exceptional hospitality shown to those members that availed themselves of your establishment recently. The touch of the Scottish flag went down a treat.

I also thank you sincerely for the kindness shown … The extra mile you went has left an impression on those that attended and again I would extend the Lodges appreciation for making that weekend a memorable one for all.

Bill P

You’re more than welcome Bill, and we look forward to seeing you all again when you’re next in the area.

Aw shucks!

We received some lovely feedback today after helping a guest who sadly fell ill while staying with us this week.

Dear Tom and Allie,
… we would like to thank you for the exceptional hospitality that you showed us. … The care you showed was far beyond what might be considered reasonable…

Your units were of a very high standard … – a real credit to you. The ground looked lovely…

The breakfasts you supplied were superb and even the hungriest of us were hard put to eat everything! For myself, the cooked breakfast on Sunday was sufficient to keep me going until I arrived back in Gisborne at 4:30pm.

Once again, thank you so much and I am sure that you will see us again in the future.

Yours Sincerely,

Tony F

We’re glad you all enjoyed your stay Tony and thank you for the lovely letter!

We hope Jim is feeling better and back to full health.

All the best,

Tom and Allie
