About Us
The Amble In Motel is 4km South of Stratford, Taranaki on State Highway 3. Our accommodation is set in a lovely rural garden environment of 5 acres – very spacious, with great views of Mt Taranaki. Access is handy to many attractions and activities:

We are well situated in a lovely rural garden environment of 5 acres just out of Stratford. It’s spacious, quiet, and restful, with great views of Mt Taranaki, just 15km away for sight-seeing, walking, or skiing. Access is also handy to various walking tracks, trout fishing, and world-renowned gardens around the area. The Taranaki Pioneer Village is just 2km down the road and New Plymouth, the main provincial centre in Taranaki, is not far away.

We have 6 One Bedroom units which sleep up to 4 persons and 4 studio motel units with queen beds. A wide range of facilities is included to cater for your needs such as kitchen, shower, air conditioning, electric blankets, laundry, barbecue area, phone, SKY TV with Guest Select (50+ channels including SKY SPORTS) and off-road parking. Wireless Internet is available.
Something for Everyone
We have recently built and installed a new wooden playground area for our younger guests to burn off some energy. Parents can sit and relax at our reclaimed Macrocarpa table and watch the littlies play whilst taking in the view of the mountain.
Enter the Enchanted Woods, created to provide an escape from the hustle & bustle. Sit and enjoy a BBQ in our peaceful hidden gem. The trees are lit up at night to show the true magical mystery of the Enchanted Woods.

Local Attractions
Mt Taranaki is popular for climbing and includes a ski field with access road near us. Egmont National Park is also renowned for its many tramping (hiking) tracks.
Some great public gardens are within reach such as Hollards Gardens Kaponga, a garden started in 1927. Pukeiti, New Zealand’s premier Rhododendron garden set in lush rainforest in Egmont National Park, and Pukekura Park, having a unique botanical landscape within a native lowland forest and lakes. There are also several renowned private gardens around Stratford and Taranaki.
Taranaki Pioneer Village is a unique museum with historic buildings and features where you can experience life as it was 100 years ago.
A few lakes and rivers are not far away for swimming, boating, bush walking, and Trout fishing.
